Map and Compass Workshop

Join us as we host a free 4-hour navigation workshop where you'll dive into the fascinating world of orienteering. This interactive course is designed to teach beginners the basics of finding their way through unfamiliar areas by way of a map and compass.

Through hands-on activities and realistic scenarios, you'll put your knowledge to the test. Learn to read terrain, identify landmarks, estimate distances, and plan efficient routes. Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way, ensuring you grasp essential navigation techniques.

Safety is paramount, so we'll cover precautions and emergency procedures. Collaborative exercises will enhance your communication and problem-solving skills.

By the end of this fun-filled workshop, you'll leave with the confidence to navigate various environments. Whether you're an adventurer or simply want to explore your surroundings, this course will make you a skilled navigator. Join us on the path to discovery!

Workshop Details / What to Bring? :

• BRING A FRIEND (bring a friend/orienteering buddy, 16 years and up, to share the experience with!)
• Bring a baseplate compass ( They can be found for well under $20. See compass links below.)
• Bring appropriate outdoor clothing ( Dress for the weather and hiking boots/shoes for the out-of-doors.)
• Bring a good attitude! (We are committed to creating a fun and safe environment for all participants, and we kindly request that you bring your positive attitude and enthusiasm so that we can fulfill our role in making it an exceptional experience for everyone involved.)

***This is a FREE interactive navigation and orienteering workshop held to be held in Godells, Mi at the Woodsong County Park. It's designed for teen/adult teams of 2 and we are taking RSVPs for the class currently to be held in August of 2023.  We will announce the weekend day/time by July 2023.

Please note that prior to the commencement of our workshops, we kindly request all participants to sign an on-site personal liability waiver. This standard legal document is designed to protect both our business and event organizers in the event of any injuries or property damage that may occur during the workshop. It is mandatory for everyone who wishes to participate to sign the release of liability form before entering the workshop. We greatly appreciate your cooperation, as it demonstrates your willingness to adhere to good business practices and prioritize safety.
