When a power outage occurs, it can quickly disrupt our daily routines and access to basic necessities like food and heat. In such situations, having a camping stove on hand can be a lifesaver.

Why a "camp stove"

Camping stoves provide a portable and versatile solution for cooking and heating without electricity. They're designed to be easy to use, and with proper care and maintenance, can last for many years.

When it comes to preparing for an emergency power outage, having a camping stove on hand can make all the difference. One of the biggest benefits of a camping stove is its ability to boil water, which is essential for staying hydrated and cooking hot meals and drinks.

Not only is a camping stove useful in emergency situations, but it can also be a versatile piece of gear for fun outdoor activities like camping or hiking. The ability to cook hot meals and drinks on the go can enhance any outdoor experience and make it more enjoyable.

Investing in a camping stove is a smart move for anyone who wants to be prepared for emergencies or simply enjoys spending time in the great outdoors. With its convenience and versatility, it's a piece of gear that can come in handy in a variety of situations.

Another advantage of camping stoves is their portability. You can easily take them with you on camping trips, picnics, or outdoor events. And in an emergency, you can quickly pack up and take it with you if you need to evacuate your home.

Camping stoves also come in a variety of types and sizes, making it easy to find one that fits your needs and budget. Some models run on propane or butane, while others use wood or other fuel sources.

Gas or Propane?

When it comes to camp stoves, I know what I like. I've used a wide variety of them over the years, from the multi-fuel burning rigs that could run on anything from unleaded gasoline to white gas. But when it comes to my go-to stove for use IN home use, there's only one type that I prefer: propane.

There are a few reasons for this, but the biggest one is the smell - or lack thereof. Propane comes with an odorant added to it, which gives it a distinctive "rotten egg" scent. This serves as a safety feature, as it makes it easy to detect if there's a leak in the stove or tank. And if there is a small burp of propane leakage when changing out bottles or tanks, the smell soon dissipates.

Propane is easy to find and relatively cheap compared to other fuel options. You can purchase 20lb tanks or smaller camp bottles that can be refilled with an adapter, which makes it a practical choice for longer camping trips or emergency situations. In fact, I consider propane to be the top contender for my camp stove title list. And if you're feeling a bit "preppy", you can even purchase an adapter and some pipe fittings from a hardware store to hard pipe or hose gas directly to your stove, just in case you are stuck home for long periods of time. The possibilities are endless!

Here is the link, and it's a stove. I get it, but I'm SURE you will not be disappointed with this one. I was lucky enough to buy one when they first came out with a metal closing latch, but that's splitting hairs. I really like this stove!

Conclusion

Having a camping stove during an emergency power outage can provide a valuable source of water, hot meals, and heat. With its portability and versatility, it's a smart investment that can help you prepare for unexpected events. So if you haven't already, consider getting a camp stove for both camping AND your emergency needs.-jb
